Things to Do in Koh Phangan
The Full Moon Party is the island's calling card, but Koh Phangan is a genuinely varied destination. In a single day you can hike to a waterfall in the jungle interior, snorkel a healthy reef on the northwest tip and watch the sun drop behind the horizon from a west-coast beach. Over a week, you can go deeper — a Sail Rock dive trip, a cooking class, a morning of kitesurfing and an evening of sound healing, without ever feeling rushed.
The island is compact, roughly 15 kilometres wide at its broadest, so most activities are within half an hour of most bases by scooter or songthaew. The main concentration of tour operators sits in Chaloklum and Mae Haad in the north, Ban Tai on the south coast and the stretch of west-coast beaches between Sri Thanu and Haad Yao.
