The Honest Full Moon Party Guide
When it’s on, what it costs, how to stay safe — and where to sleep it off.
The Full Moon Party is the reason most people first hear of Koh Phangan: tens of thousands on Haad Rin beach, neon paint, fire shows and music until sunrise. Here’s how to do it well.
When is it?
Since 2026 the party falls on the actual night of the full moon. Our dedicated Full Moon Party hub keeps the live dates, the entry fee, how to get there and the safety basics — check it for the next date before you book anything, and see the best time to visit for the wider weather picture.
The other parties
The island runs satellite parties around the moon too: the Jungle Experience a few nights before, the Half Moon Festival about a week either side, and the Waterfall Party near the new moon. All of them are on the calendar.
Where to stay
Haad Rin books out for party nights — reserve weeks ahead. If you want to be in the thick of it, stay at Haad Rin; if you’d rather sleep, base yourself a bay or two away and taxi-boat in. See Hotels & Stays, and check getting to Koh Phangan to time your ferry around the crowds.
Stay safe
Wear shoes (fire ropes, broken glass), never swim drunk, keep your drink with you, and agree a meeting point — phone signal dies in the crowd. Buckets are strong; pace yourself.
Recovering the next day? The island’s wellness spots and quiet beaches are the cure.
