Zen Beach
4.5★ · 1,982 Google reviews
Tucked into the northern stretch of Haad Chao Phao near Sri Thanu, Zen Beach has earned its name as Koh Phangan's unofficial sunset-gathering point. As the light drops over the Gulf, travellers, yogis and long-stayers drift down to the sand for an informal drum and fire circle — a loose, anyone-welcome ritual rather than an organised event. It is one of the most photographed and most talked-about sunsets on the island's west coast.
By day the bay is quiet and unhurried, ringed by the cafes, yoga shalas and wellness studios that have made the Sri Thanu area a magnet for the spiritual and digital-nomad scene. Don't come expecting a polished resort strip: the appeal here is the atmosphere — barefoot, candle-lit and communal — far more than manicured facilities.
